Please Help Malak

· 2 min read

I don’t give much money to things. A few dollars a month, which isn’t really anything. I’m mentioning this upfront because I’m about to ask you to donate to something, and I’d rather you know that than think I’m speaking from some position of generosity I don’t actually occupy.

Her name is Malak AbuNahel. She’s 20, lives in Gaza, graduated high school in 2023 with a 97.1% average. She’s in her second year of university now, studying remotely, while her city is being bombed.

In October 2023 their home was bombed while the family was inside it. They got out. Since then they’ve been displaced more than ten times — for months they were living in a tent. Her mother has heart disease and breast cancer and can barely access treatment. Her father has no work; there aren’t jobs in Gaza anymore. Her 18-year-old brother is sitting his final school exams with chronic asthma. Her youngest sister is 11.

That was nearly three years ago. More than 80% of Gaza’s buildings have been destroyed or damaged. Palestine is still occupied, still being bombed, still being starved. None of this has stopped.

She wants to study abroad. Finish her degree somewhere she can actually attend a class. Help her family get somewhere safe.

Her Chuffed campaign is here.

I gave a bit. You don’t have to give much. Share it if you can’t give anything.
