Hello, World
Hello. I’m Timothy, a software developer based in Pretoria, South Africa.
I’ve been writing software since 2018. Web development is where I spend most of my time, and my language of choice is TypeScript, the weird parts included. When performance matters, I reach for Rust.
I live in the terminal: Ghostty, zsh, and Starship on macOS. I’ve tried heavier setups; this is the one that stuck.
Outside work I tinker. I’m the author of scriv, a terminal notes app. I play video games, mostly RTS and grand strategy, the kind where you lose four hours before you notice. I listen to audiobooks, mostly sci-fi and historical fiction; they make long walks feel short. I have a dog. He has no interest in any of this.
I’m an eco-socialist and a Buddhist. Those two things shape how I think about technology: who it serves, what it costs, and whether it’s worth building at all.
This blog is a place for me to write. About software, about tools I’m working on, about ideas I’m turning over. Nothing formal, just thinking out loud.
Glad you’re here.
